First electronic "noises" Ioan ever made came from a demo version of ReBirth (somewhere around 1998) and he found this activity to be quite an enjoyable way of pissing off his neighbours in the spare time, considering his love for Prodigy-inspired beats and sounds.

However, things turned a bit more serious a year later, when, after watching a documentary about the rave culture in Western Europe and US, he decided it would be idea to build an analog synthesizer himself. He never did that so far, but all that research took him deep into understanding sound synthesis and processing.

And then.... the breakthrough !
A friend showed up one night in 2002 with a recorded music video of Autechre - Gantz Graf. Reactions turned from "WTF?!?" to "Dude, this is interesting !" to "OMG OMG I love it !! Do you have more of this shit ?!!!". From there, things went pretty straight-forward.

10 years have past since Sergiu Micu, aka Badsector has opened his first music software, beginning to play with hip-hop beats and simple tunes. He found his musical maturity 5 years laters, when his compositions became better. In 2011 he comes out with his project Badsector, a project that manages to easily combine IDM, drum&bass, electronica, glitch and dubstep.

Sonic Boom - The New Composers-first edition-Badsector live act

ArtVault si Club Control prezinta prima editie Sonic Boom – The New Composers - serie de evenimente dedicate noutatilor in muzica romaneasca alternativa, de la indie la electronic si de la postpunk la dub.
...In fiecare miercuri la Sonic Boom se vor auzi trupe si albume de debut, cele mai interesante si promitatoare proiecte muzicale proaspete, selectate cu ajutorul ...a doi muzicieni importanti ai scenei alternative romanesti, Mihai Campineanu (Suie Paparude) si Mihnea Blidariu (Luna Amara).
La prima editie Sonic Boom, Control il gazduieste pe Badsector, un nou producator autohton, a carui muzica originala incorporeaza ani de cautari prin diferite genuri. Au trecut zece ani de cand Sergiu Micu aka Badsector a deschis primul soft de muzica, iar pe atunci se „juca” cu beat-uri hip-hop.
El spune ca a gasit o prima etapa a maturizarii muzicale 5 ani mai tarziu, cand a inteles ca trebuie sa dea la fel de multa atentie sound-ului ca si ritmului. In 2010 apare Badsector, un proiect trecut prin filtrele universului eclectic dintre idm, d’n’b, electronica, glich si dubstep.
